Robert Gilmor III built a three-story early Gothic Revival mansion in 1833 which was to resemble a Scottish castle. He named it Glen Ellen. The trail is named after this mansion. The beginning of the hike will follow the shoreline of Loch Raven. We will pass Maggie's Point, Sam's Grave, the final resting place of a faithful canine hiking companion, and then onto the ruins of the Glen Ellen mansion.
