I understand the risks involved in hikes, trail work, outdoor activities, and any activity run by the Mountain Club of Maryland, including risks of injury and death to me, my children, and my property, and risks in travelling to or from the activities. By participating in any activity of the Mountain Club of Maryland, I am agreeing to assume those risks and to not hold the Mountain Club of Maryland and its directors, officers, members, employees, agents, or leaders responsible for any injuries, damages, or claims.
By participating in events, activities, or programs sponsored by the Mountain Club of Maryland, I grant the Mountain Club of Maryland the right to use, reproduce, publish, display, and distribute photographs, videos, or other recordings of my likeness, generated during a MCM event, for lawful organizational purposes, including but not limited to the organization’s website, social media accounts, newsletters, promotional materials, annual reports, and other communications, without compensation or further notice.
I understand that once images are published on the internet or social media, the Mountain Club of Maryland, its officers, and volunteers cannot control or prevent further sharing, copying, or distribution by third parties, and are not responsible for claims, demands, liabilities, damages, or causes of action arising from third party misuse of aforementioned images. This includes claims related to privacy, publicity, or emotional distress.
If I do not wish to be photographed or recorded, I am responsible for notifying the hike’s participants, during circle up time (prior to the start of the hike). While the organization will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests, it cannot guarantee that I will not appear incidentally in group or background images.
