The 2026 Hike Across Maryland (HAM) will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The HAM is a one-day hike that starts in Maryland near the PA/MD border at Pen Mar Park, follows the Appalachian Trail through Maryland, and ends in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The distance is about 41 miles over rocky and rough trails with several significant climbs. This hike is intended for the serious hiker who has done three or more training hikes of 15 miles and more. At a bare minimum, hikers should be able to hike at a rate of 2.5 to 3 miles an hour for 14 hours over mountainous terrain.
All Mountain Club Members will receive an invitation email to register for the HAM on or about February 14, 2026. Registration for non-members will open on February 28, 2026.
If you know someone that would like to register and is not a member of MCM and they have never hiked the HAM before please have them send their Full Name and e-mail to HAM@mcomd.org and they will be sent an invitation email when non-member registration opens.
NOTE: VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION WILL OPEN SOMETIME IN MARCH.
