This is an out and back hike leading from Big Meadows to the summit of Hawksbill, at 4050' the highest point in Shenandoah National Park. We will be on the AT most of the time, but will take the Salamander Trail to the summit of Hawksbill. The estimated elevation gain is 1800', with roughly an 1100' climb over two miles to reach the summit of Hawksbill.
