The club will be sponsoring what in recent years has come to be its annual Shenandoah National Park (SNP) hikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 20-21, 2026. There will be at least two hikes, one harder and one more moderate, scheduled each day. Specifics on all of the hikes will be posted on the hike schedule that will come out later this spring or early summer. Hikers can sign up for one or both days of hikes. In addition, there are many well marked trails in the area if you want to do your own hikes. As in previous years, we plan (weather permitting) to have a pot luck happy hour Tuesday after the hikes.
Once again, we will be based at Big Meadows Lodge in Shenandoah National Park, and several of the hikes will leave from there. However, hikers are responsible for making their own transportation and lodging arrangements either at Big Meadows or elsewhere. Camping is also available at Big Meadows. But, if you do want to stay overnight in the area, don’t wait too long to make reservations; this is peak foliage season and both the lodge and the campground fill up quickly.
