Did you know that MCM has a Meetup hiking program in addition to its hike schedule for our paid members? The Mountain Club of Maryland Meetup Group offers a limited number of hikes (usually about one or two hikes each week) led by a few MCM hike leaders. Most of these hikes take place on weekdays, and the majority are held in Patapsco Valley State Park—but they can be held on any day, and at any location, where our Meetup hike leaders choose to offer the hikes. MCM’s Supervisor of Trails also uses Meetup to announce planned Appalachian Trail work days.
If you are registered for our Meetup Group, you will automatically received email notices of these hikes and work events. You do not need to be a member of the regular Mountain Club of Maryland to join our Meetup program. Here is how you can sign up
First, if you are not already registered for the overall Meetup program, you should join Meetup by following these steps:
- Go to Meetup.com and click Sign up.
- Enter the necessary information and click Sign up.
- Verify your email address.
- You can select areas of interest, and topics within each interest, if you wish to do so.
Then you can join the MCM Meetup Group by taking these steps:
- Log in to your Meetup account.
- Go to the homepage for the group you want to join—in this case, search for the Mountain Club of Maryland Meetup Group.
- Click Join this group.
Once you are registered, you will receive email notices of MCM’s Meetup hikes and Appalachian Trail work events.
