This 12-13 mile hike starts at the Marriotsville Road parking area next to the railroad tracks, then hikes north towards Sykesville using the HoCo / River Road Trail and various side trails. There will be about 1200-1300 feet of ascent. We will have lunch at the stone ruins, then return.

Hike both along the river and a ridgeline towards Prettyboy Reservoir dam, then back downstream. There is a rocky stretch along one section of the river and hilly, so poles are strongly recommended.
