Hike upstream through woods along Big Gunpowder Falls to Stockdale Trail (BLUE) hiking along the upper ridge (flat after slight hill climb at first, this is a loop hike. Wear hiking boots and bring poles in case muddy conditions.
Length: 15 miles; Elevation gain: approximately 3,700 ft. Steep, rocky climb up Little Devil’s Staircase Trail to Hogback Overlook and along the AT and Thorton River Trail in the North District of Shenandoah National Park.
