Congratulations to all hikers that either finished or attempted to finish the 2026 HAM!
Here are some of the highlights:
- We started with 101 registrations, however by the start of the HAM we were down to 84 hikers. We’re sure some of the no shows or last minute cancellations were due to the rain. Who doesn’t want to hike 41 miles in the rain?
- Out of the 84 starters there were 49 finishers, with the first two hikers coming in at 3:20 pm Bib #66 and at 3:30 pm Bid #23.
- The last hikers came in at 8:48 pm. As far as we are aware, we had no serious injuries. Although we are sure there were plenty of blisters, skinned knees, and bruises.
- This event was 100% supported by the Mountain Club of Maryland volunteers. From helping with check-in to staffing all the checkpoints and providing sweeps and everything leading up to, during, and after the event – so a shout out to all the volunteers!
- And a shout out to the Frederick Radio Club for all their help in keeping track of our hikers. They are also a volunteer group that has helped us out with many of the past HAMs.

- The next HAM will be in May of 2028. Information about registering for the 2028 HAM will be provided in early January 2028.
- The Half-HAM (Pen Mar to Washington Monument) will be held in the Fall of 2027. However, the Half-Ham is only opened to MCM members.
