We’ll then hike on the Old Rag Fire Rd. and Big Meadows Horse Trail to the AT and Stony Man Mountain; returning on the Nicholson Hollow Trail. Several stream crossings.

  • Seneca Greenway Trail: South from Schaeffer Farms Trailhead – 11H

    This 10-11 mile out-and-back hike on trails near Seneca Creek starts at the Schaeffer Farms Trailhead in Germantown, then goes south on the Seneca Greenway Trail. The trail is relatively flat with a few moderate hills, so I expect to hike at a fairly fast pace of 2.7-2.8 MPH.

    Hike out to the Panther Branch trail and take Gunpowder South trail back: 7 miles, approximately 1000 ft. elevation gain. This includes beautiful views of the Gunpowder River and a nice hike along a tributary stream.

  • SOLDIERS DELIGHT – OCTOBER 1 – 5 E/M

    Hike a 5.3 mile loop that includes the Choate Mine, Dolfield and Serpentine trails. This uniquely beautiful and serene hike traverses woods and open grass fields. However, the surface is rocky, so sturdy shoes and hiking poles are recommended. Signage along the way provides engaging information about the areas geological history.
