This mostly out and back hike with a couple of loops in the middle, will follow the South Branch Patapsco River on the Carroll County side from Freedom Park to the McKeldin area of PVSP. Our pace while hiking will be about 2.5 mph. There is about 1000 ft in elevation change.

Explore the Patapsco River South Branch on the Carroll County side from Sykesville to McKeldin. We will hike at a pace of about 2.5 mph along trails that are often muddy, narrow and steep. There are a couple of small stream crossings. Hiking poles are recommended.
