We have been receiving regular contacts from persons who want to join the Mountain Club, but who don’t have a Paypal account (and don’t want an account), and who have difficulty figuring out to pay their membership fee with a credit or debit card. Part of their confusion is that they may not understand that Paypal is also serving as our payment processor for credit and debit cards. But in addition, there is confusion because users don’t always see the same screens with the same instructions.
MCM leadership is exploring this problem to see if we can find a way to make the Paypal screens more consistent, but in the meantime we have prepared the attached document to help explain the steps to be taken to make a credit/debit card payment. We have added this information to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) under the Resources tab to share this information. If any of our members know someone who is trying to join MCM and is experiencing difficulty, please make them aware of the available instructions.
While the payment process for renewing an existing membership is a little different, our existing members might still find these instructions helpful when you are making payment for your membership renewal.
