MCM ADOPTS LOCAL OPERATING PLAN FOR ITS APPALACHIAN TRAIL WORK

MCM, like all Appalachian Trail (A.T.) maintaining clubs, is required to have a Local Management Plan (LMP) for its work on the A.T. These club LMP documents tend to be long (often more than 100 pages), cumbersome (discussing federal, state, and club policies) and are not updated very often. MCM has recently approved a more condensed Local Operating Plan (LOP) as a companion document to the formal LMP. Our new LOP focuses on describing MCM’s Trail section and our club policies and approaches related to our Appalachian Trail work. As a result, it is much shorter and more readable. The new LOP can be accessed on our web site by clicking Get Involved, and then choosing Instructions for Appalachian Trail Volunteers on the drop down menu, or by clicking here. All our Appalachian Trail volunteers, as well as any other members who are interested in our A.T. responsibilities, are encouraged to take a look at this plan.
