Crunchy Hike on the Little Gunpowder Falls

Saturday, February 6th, Anne Rosenberg, Dwight Livingston, and Iris hiked a 5.5 pinched loop along the Little Gunpowder.

After walking on hard ice along the river, most of our trail was a crunchy few inches of old snow that made a deafening racket as we walked. Iris had no trouble running on the crust, while Anne and I got an extra workout.

We saw some new cuts made by beavers in a couple of trees by the river and fresh workings by a pileated woodpecker near the valley rim.

Fine weather for a hike.
